I am about to clear out my inbox, but I found some old messages that I would like to hold on to because they were pretty heartwarming. I am posting them here with commentary because I think they are great and the users that sent me them are great! I also added context, hope you enjoy.

"Sonic onYoshi Island"

This is the oldest message I have. Before this account, I had an older account that I had since the mid-2000's but the username can now be considered racist and at the time there was no option to change it so I created this new account and started anew.

Long story short, This was one of the first games I made as a kid in 2002 using an engine that is now ClickTeam Fusion. I still get comments to this day appearing in my feed from people who have nostalgia for playing this game. I made the director's cut later on in high school and worked on it every day before school to stay creative. I am going on too much, maybe I will go into it in a later post.

I just love the idea that some kid went out of his way to call me out and say that the game was enjoyable :)

"Thank you :)"

I felt like a comment wasn't enough to show you my graditude for creating "Nightmare at the Manor",

So a private message will have to do :)

Anyways, I thought you should know that I enjoyed playing this free short adventure game rather than purchasing and playing a $49.99 videogame. You lured me into the story, I enjoyed every character, and it may sound silly because the game seemed "short", but it's the "quality over quantity", as a german friend has a saying about.

You sir have made a gem, I am proud of you for creating this videogame. Thank you for the entertainment, I followed you and posted the link to your game on my skype topic, so my friends can check it out.

If you make a whole series, you will be my favorite game dev. :)

Once again, Thank you,

-Demetrios.

(P.S.) I've been trying to make games for a while, but haven't enough skill to create one.

This one was incredibly humbling! I still think about it to this day and it warms my heart. I sent him a really long letter back that I won't include here because of the sheer length but I basically told him that I apprecated that he noticed all the work I put into NIghtmare at the Manor. I would love to work with an artist and writer in the future to create my own point & click adventure game!

"Hi!"

I really enjoyed your game "Nightmare at the Manor".

Are you planning to release more games like it?

Thanks

"Re: Koopa Kart Adventure Review"

Thanks for making such a great game! I really enjoyed it!

As the "Re:" in the subject states, this was a response to a message I initially sent to this user and here it is:

Hey, I just wanted to personally say thank you for the awesome review you gave on my game Koopa Kart Adventure. I was afraid nobody would take the time to explore the game and find everything I put in it. I'm just starting out on this site and I have already had a few of my games blammed so its nice when I get an awesome comment. I know the game is not perfect and could be improved, I still got a long way to go.

Thanks for taking the time to play all the way through, I am humbled

Message from greeneggs4spam

Unfortunalty the game got taken down because of obvious Nintendo property being in it. It was a proof of concept for a 3D adventure type game I would love to make someday but in 3D.

I really loved the message a moderator sent me when he had to break the news that they had to take it down, here is was:

"Koopa Kart Adventure"

Haw! This was a blast. Unfortunately, it had Nintendo character(s) and objects in it (the sounds are probably ok) so it had to be cut.

Switch those out (edit the koopa sprite heavily, change his name, and the "Koopa" island-maze layout) and then resubmit! And add medals! I beat the game. :3

HAHA, man I love this community! If you read this far I appreciate it! Hope you have a good day & are staying safe!

This is so nice ^^ great for you :D

I'm kinda envious because most of the time people seem to not care about what I do and Im constantly lonely and isolated everyday from everyone

That could be a good thing, people suck. Having the wrong interactions in life can really fuck you up so maybe it is a blessing! People's attention is really fickle these days, this is why I appreciate honest human interaction these days.

@SupremeKhi @saligraphy yeah you’re right, thank you
